Andrew Watson

General Manager

Andrew brings to the Chamber a strong background leading IT service teams having managed IT support businesses within Fujitsu, Unisys, and AT&T as well as eight years as the IT Operations Manager for a NZ based Insurance Company.  The past three years has been as the Manager, Driver and Operator Training for Toi EDA, the Eastern Bay of Plenty Economic Development Agency, where his role was to promote driver training and support locals into sustainable employment within our region.  It is this passion for helping others that has led to Andrew taking on the role within the Chamber.

Just over four years ago, Andrew and his wife Jacqui made the decision to relocate from Wellington to Whakatāne to enjoy the warmer climate, a shorter commute time, and a more “local” community. The first stop on their way into Whakatāne was the local theatre and have been involved in every production since.  Having been involved in the Wellington Community Theatre scene for over 30 years, they are familiar with just about every aspect of theatre both on and off the stage.

Andrew is an active volunteer at the Whakatāne Citizens Advice Bureau, and is currently, chair of the board as well as a volunteer interviewer.

Andrew is excited to be working alongside the board and staff of the Chamber and getting to meet and deliver support to our members.  He is based at the Chamber office on The Strand along with David, Alex, and Yolandi. Feel free to drop in and say “Hi”.
