Warren Short is the co-owner of DiSTiNCT fashion boutique in Ohope and a consultant in the Kiwifruit industry

Originally from Gisborne, I moved to the Bay of Plenty in the 90’s and immersed myself in a career in the New Zealand Kiwifruit industry. My time in the industry has provided me with the opportunity to perform various team member and management roles across the entire kiwifruit supply chain from on orchard, grower liaison, operational, sales and logistics both here in New Zealand and Europe. In 2004 I began working with a kiwifruit company in Opotiki and our family moved to Whakatane in 2009. We quickly learned what a fantastic place it is to live, work and raise our two daughters.

Last year saw a big change happen for our family with my wife Jana, opening DiSTiNCT boutique in Ohope and myself moving from a full-time role in Kiwifruit to one of consulting part-time with the balance of my days supporting Jana in her business and having the fantastic opportunity to be a home-based Dad.

Whilst a newcomer to Whakatane and the Eastern Bay of Plenty, I am excited about the opportunity to play a role in the team and community that is focusing on making our region an even better place to live, work, build sustainable businesses and raise families. My experience gained from time in various roles in small, medium and large companies across different countries and cultures may be of some benefit to the Chamber, its members and the community.
