A bit about Wiremu

I come from a background in secondary school teaching. I was Assistant Principal at Saint Stephen’s School, then Principal of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Hoani Waititi Marae, then left secondary teaching for Tertiary, spending time at Manukau Institute of Technology as Te Amorangi (Maori Director) . I m  currently CEO  Te Whare Wananga o Awanui-a-rangi.

My wife Tanya teaches locally and we have two children one at Trident High School and the other at Allandale primary School

Skills & Qualities

I have  PhD from the University of Auckland and have  extensive links to iwi across Aotearoa. I have  also held leadership roles in both the education and commercial sectors in New Zealand. With the colocation of the Chamber onto Awanuiarangi Campus last April I believe this further strengthens ties to the education and Maori business Community. Iwi are going to be the largest economic driver in the Eastern Bay region and we are in for exciting times and partnerships
