A bit about karl
Born and raised in the Bay of Plenty, I have spent most of my career offshore with Fonterra in leadership positions within markets such as Brasil, USA, France and Singapore. We returned to the Bay of Plenty a couple of years ago to settle with family and are now living in Ohope. I am CEO of New Zealand Mānuka Group with offices in Opotiki and Awakeri, as well as significant investments on the East Coast. As a result I interact with multiple stakeholders in our community and love contributing to the flourishing regional economy. It’s an amazing place to live, raise a family and to establish a thriving economy. My wife, Teresa, and I have two young children.
Skills & Qualities
I am a big believer in the Eastern Bay region, its potential and the amazing people that live here. I believe that my international experience in business development and strategy can assist in the regional development and the strategic direction of the Chamber. My networks across the region and exposure to central government and global businesses allows me to bring a unique perspective to the Chamber. As a major employer in the region I have a vested interest in making this region a success for the next generation of local leaders. I have mentored several businesses in growth phases and also am active in the angel investment and funding community, which may benefit some members. As a result, I bring a breadth of experience in start up scenarios, medium sized businesses and also corporate environments.
