My wife Kay and I live in the Wainui. I have recently returned to the Eastern Bay of Plenty after several years of working and studying in Wellington and Auckland. I am a hard-working father and grandfather (koro) who enjoys the outdoors.

My passions lie in helping people not so fortunate and the environment we all too often take for granted. I have the privilege to be working with Te Whānau-ā-Apanui at Te Runanga o Te Whanau as Te Hēteri. This is a role that supports the Chief Executive with their settlement and the aspirations of their people. I am also currently supporting the council of Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi with a post covid-19 initiative for our community. Put another way, I have nurtured a growing interest in our indigenous essence that sets us apart from all others. There is something magical in the worldview it offers our place amongst all peoples.

I have nearly 30 years local and international management experience in public and private sector infrastructure portfolios. My interest lie within the myriad of operational challenges facing New Zealand, and the possibilities inherit with the new technologies, big data, cloud analytics and evidence-based investment decisions these enable. My commercial partnerships specialise in solving societies wicked problems. And, maximising the value propositions of investments being made to secure the four capitals and/or four wellbeing's they seek. I have a Master of Science from Auckland University, an MBA in International Business and Finance from Melbourne, and recently completed my Doctorate at Victoria University’s School of Government. I am also a remote scholar with the Institute of Fiscal Studies  and Democracy (IFSD) at the University of Ottawa in Canada – who provide infrastructure and financial advice to the Canadian Government.
