Hello I’m Carolyn Cooper, the Director of law firm Apogee Legal. I moved with my husband to Ohope in 2010, attracted by the strong community and the amazing coastal environment. We love living here and have two primary school age children.

With nearly a decade of experience in a local law firm behind me, last year I started my own firm, Apogee Legal. Throughout my time in Whakatane I’ve been a first-hand user of the Chamber’s services which have been invaluable. I’ve formed an amazing network with local businesses, while the access to experts and mentorship helped to clarify and drive my own business plans. Being part of the Chamber means you’re always just a quick phone call or email away from any business support or advice you need.

Over my career I’ve worked across a wide range of legal settings both internationally and nationally – from Crown Offices to large corporates and smaller regional firms. This breadth of experience means I’m able to take a big picture view on what our local business community needs to succeed nationally and internationally. As a lawyer it’s also in my nature to take a practical look at what the details of a particular plan or change might bring for business.

There are so many passionate business people in this region. Living in such a beautiful place, I find the business community is underpinned by a strong sense of values. My goal is to continue to help the Chamber create an environment where local companies can thrive and achieve their goals from right here in the Bay.
